PSC Low Light Matches

The PSC Low Light Matches are a fun and exciting way to let shooters practice their home defense weapons in a practical environment, utilizing your low light accessories. There are many accessories out there that folks use, such as a weapon light, lasers, night-sights, fiber optics sights, red dots, and even night vision for those folks that are equipped as such. Utilizing the IDPA stage layout style we attempt to duplicate hallways, rooms, and outdoor environments that you might see in a home defense situation. We shoot on the move and utilize cover as frequently as possible. Many folks have found that being a great shooter during the daytime, and adding a weapon light does not equate to being a great shooter at night. The targets we shoot consist of IDPA/IPSC targets for pistol/pcc, and steel & clay targets for shotguns. Come on out and step into the world of low light shooting. Don’t worry if you don’t have one of the types of firearms, bring what you can and get the experience you get nowhere else.

When & Where:

Low light shooting matches are held every first and third Tuesday of each month, from Daylight Savings End, to the spring when Daylight Savings kicks back in. Held in pistol bay A & B. The start time is usually around 6pm but varies by 20-30 min based on the time of sunset. Setup starts at 5pm. All shooting must cease by 8:30PM, as per the range’s hours of operation. Online registration not required. Match fees are $5, which will be waived for those that arrive prior to 5:30PM and assist in set up.

Equipment needed/permitted:

We allow pistols, pistol caliber carbine’s (to include 22LR) as well as shotguns. ALL WEAPON LIGHTS MUST BE MOUNTED TO THE WEAPON, NO HANDHELD LIGHTS PERMITTED. Expect to shoot 40-80 pistol/PCC and 15-25 shotshells. Shotguns loads permitted are lead shot, no larger than #6 shot. Steel shot not permitted due to the use of steel targets. Empty Chamber flags required for shotguns.

If pistols are brought without a holster that accommodates a light, please bring a pistol storage pouch. Some great manufacturers of holsters for common pistol/light combinations are Safariland, TierOne concealment, and MckinaTech. Should you need one fast and/or you have a less than usual pistol/light combination, check out Triple T holsters in League City. They will make them custom for you. (Duty holsters are not on their website but they can easily make one in that style with QLS or G-Code holes drilled)

Rules:   PSC MEMBERS ONLY, PREFERRABLY WITH PISTOL MATCH EXPERIENCE.

IDPA style rules will be in effect during the low light shooting matches. Only one shooter permitted at a time, per bay. Anyone acting in an unsafe or unsportsmanlike manner will be disqualified and asked to leave. Readmittance to future low light shooting events will be made at the discretion of the Match Director, and the Range Officers.
