One of the most frequently heard comments when handing out new "smart" Club Badges was, "Great! Now we don't have to stop and sign in before we go to a range." Unfortunatly, a number of Members are not scanning their badge when they enter because they follow another Member who opened the gate. The article "How the New Badge System Works" addressed this issue, since it was another commenly asked question. The answer to the question is simple, "Yes, but stop long enough to “flash” your badge. This logs you into the system. You don’t have to wait until the gate closes and reopen it." It 's not sufficient to scan your badge at one of the range-specific readers. You must scan your badge at the gate to enter. Again, you don't have to wait for the gate to close. Just stop long enough to hold your badge next to the reader and see the "white circle" indicating your scan is complete.
Scanning in is NOT optional and this is not a minor issue. For insurance purposes, the Club needs to have a record of people using Club facilities. If this continues, we may have to return to using the sign-in booth. None of us wants to do that, so let's work together to prevent a step backwards.
Respectfully,
